IKOS Systems Announces VStation-15Mx Emulation Replicate

IKOS Offers 15-Million Gate Capacity Replicate for Hardware/Software Co-verification At Less Than 7 Cents Per ASIC Gate

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 2002--IKOS Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IKOS - news) today announced the availability of its latest product offering, the VStation-15Mx Replicate Station. The VStation-15Mx extends the hardware/software co-verification power (introduced with VStation-5Mx) to 15million gate capacity.

The ability to verify hardware and software in parallel is the true power of the replicate solution. At 15-million gate capacity in a single system, VStation-15M emulator plus VStation-15Mx replicates provide solutions for even the largest of today's designs. The IKOS VirtualWires technology used in full VStation systems ensures that the same database can be reliably implemented in every VStation replicate. It is expected that users will be able to shave months off their verification schedules by using this hardware/software co-verification methodology.

"Users can see the tremendous advantage to be gained by using VStation-15Mx replicates with their full emulation systems. A number of our leading-edge customers are designing very large SoC designs containing embedded processors that require hardware-software verification. VStation-15Mx is an ideal solution for these customers," commented Linda Prowse Fosler, vice president of marketing for IKOS Systems.

VStation-15Mx Expands IKOS Breakthrough Co-modeling Capability

Both VStation-15M and -15Mx solutions offer IKOS' breakthrough co-modeling capability. Co-modeling enables high-performance system-level verification using abstract system models running on a workstation connected to the design under test through a high-speed interface between the workstation and VStation-15M emulator and VStation-15Mx replicate. These systems are widely used for both co-modeling and traditional in-circuit emulation.

Ikos Systems Fully-compatible Compilation

The VStation-15Mx replicate uses the proven compiled database from a fully-featured VStation-15M emulator. This provides a known database and environment for the total hardware and software design team. The hardware design team chooses when the design is stable enough for the balance of the team to start the system integration verification. The existing database is then loaded onto one or more VStation-15Mx replicates. IKOS' VirtualWires technology ensures that all systems function exactly the same with the same database. With all systems using the same database there is no verification-based uncertainty. Debug is provided by the VStation-15M full-emulation system.

The VStation-15Mx is available now from IKOS at a US List Price of $90,000 per array board with a capacity of 1.67 million usable ASIC gates. This results in a price per gate of less than 7 cents per gate.
